Eldercare Locator is a public service provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the Administration on Aging to help connect older adults, their families and their Caregivers with information about senior services.
Eldercare Locator, 1-800-677-1116, began their telephone operation in 1991.
Eldercare Locator, www.eldercare.gov launched their website in 2001.
The Eldercare Locator website provides a search box to find help in your community. You can search by location by entering your zip code or city and state. You can also search by Topics which include Alzheimer's Disease, Caregiver, Elder Abuse Prevention, Finances, In-Home Services, Housing Options, Long Term Care and Transportation.
The Caregiver's Corner provides useful links to national information to assist family members and Caregivers in finding good care, respite services, information on national, state and local programs to support and sustain Caregivers, and tools to assist Caregivers and loved ones to make informed heath care decisions.
The Resources section on the Eldercare Locator website provides fact sheets and brochures to Caregivers to include topics to discuss with your aging parents, warning signs that your older family member may need help and how to develop a plan to stay in touch with your older relatives during potential emergency situations and disasters that could occur in your loved one's home and community.
The Federal Website section provides a list of Federal Agencies with their phone numbers and website addresses to help users access government sites that provide services to senior citizens.
